Abstract:

Abstract:This paper uses Software MSEW3.0 to check computations for the stability of geogrid reinforced retaining walls under different conditions such as different widths of step, various wall heights, and complex slope methods. It then makes comparison and anlaysis on variations of calculated length and strength of reinforcement elements, which provide reference for computations of similiar retaining walls. The quantity of geogrids used reduce with increasing of upper wall height. Within a certain range, the calculated geogrid quantity per linear meter reduces with increasing of platform width; however, with further increasing of platform width, the calculated number increases gradually. As far as complex slopes are concerned, geogrid quantity per linear meter required by a single tier retaining wall is less than that of tiered ones, and with incrasing of platform width, the former saves a considerable amount geogrid material.
