Abstract:

In the construction project of the Ciudad de Cali Avenue between Bosa Avenue and San Bernardino Avenue located in Bogotá (Colombia), the presence of extremely soft soils during the exploration activity was detected, with CBRs at a lower subgrade level to 1%, implying great thicknesses of platform soils stabilization and additionally intervention to the networks of public services. In this project, the objective is to optimize the thickness of improvement of the subgrade with Geosynthetics (woven geotextile, biaxial geogrid, and geocells), versus the thickness of improvement initially proposed by a conventional structure.

The reinforcement proposal with Geosynthetics was divided into two parts:

1. Subgrade Stabilization, necessary platform to achieve 3% Equivalent CBR, Separation Geotextile and Biaxial Geogrid

2. Granular reinforcement with Geocell, reinforcement on the platform to reach a CBR of 6.3%.

With the combination of these Geosynthetics, the one-way platform that will have a transit in a design period of 10 years of 2.67E + 7 ESALs was achieved.
